Materials and Service Life of Sun Hong Pressure Screen Basket

The pressure screen rotor and pressure screen basket are both essential parts needed for the proper functioning of pressure screens.

The screen basket is a component that wears out over time. The Sun Hong screen basket is made from 304 and 316 stainless steel, which provides it with good resistance to wear and corrosion. The area of the basket that comes into contact with the slurry has an electroplated chrome coating. This coating increases the strength of the surface and enhances its ability to resist wear and corrosion. It also helps in preventing damage from sand and other impurities. This results in a longer lifespan for the basket, lower costs for replacement and maintenance, and improved overall performance.

The Classification of Pressure Screen Basket

The classification based on the way pulp flows into and out of the screen basket is the main separation method of pressure screens.

Outflow slotted screen basket: The screen rotor is installed at the screen basket inner. The pulp flows from the outside to the inside of the screen basket, suitable for coarse screening. Its structure can effectively handle pulp with high impurity content and is often equipped with a top light slag discharge port to improve screening efficiency.

Inflow slotted screen basket: The screen rotor is installed at the outside of screen basket. The pulp flows outward from the inside of the screen basket under pressure, which is a relatively advanced design in modern international society, and is particularly suitable as a pre screening equipment for paper machines. It has the advantages of low pulp pulse, high screening quality, less clogging of the screen basket, and long service life.

According to the surface of screen basket sieve type, it can be divided into drilled screen basket and slotted screen basket.

Drilled Screen Basket: It’s usually used for screening coarse pulp. Its characteristic is to screen out target particles through pore size, filtering out small particles through pores to achieve the purpose of screening.

Slotted Screen Basket: It refers to the welding of bar combinations on the screen basket to form gaps one by one. This type of sieve is mainly used for screening fine pulp. Its characteristic is to screen out target particles by the width of the gap, and to screen out larger particles that cannot pass through the gap.

Applications and Classifications of Pressure Screen Basket in the Process Flow

Coarse screening screen basket: It’s used for preliminary screening of waste paper pulp and other materials, with large screening gaps. The rotor often adopts a closed structure to prevent impurities from entangling.

Fine screening screen basket: It’s used for deep purification of pulp, with fine screening gaps and rotor blades that are often open to reduce power consumption.

Pre screening screen basket: installed in front of the headbox of the paper machine to purify the pulp, requiring extremely fine screen gaps and stable pulp output. The rotor is often designed with multiple rotors to reduce pulsation.

In addition, there is a knot screen basket that can effectively remove larger, undissolved residues remaining in the pulp after cooking. This screen basket is installed in the coarse pressure screen and is often used in the early stages of the pulping process to separate and remove larger foreign objects such as coarse fiber bundles and sawdust.
