The Importance of Screen Basket in the Pulping Process
Pressure screen basket, as the core component of screening equipment, are highly versatile separation parts capable of separating, classifying, and purifying solid materials in fluids. Based on their screening function and efficiency, screen basket can be further subdivided, finding applications beyond papermaking and pulping, including mining and wastewater treatment. Their correct installation and use are crucial to equipment efficiency, lifespan, and product quality. Below, Sun Hong will explain the installation and usage techniques for general-purpose screen baskets.
Preparations Before Screen Basket Installation
Before installing the pressure screen basket, the entire machine must be shut down and the power disconnected to ensure complete shutdown. If the equipment involves pressure or slurry, ensure that the system pressure is completely released and the material inside the screen basket cavity is emptied. Clear any obstructions from the work area to ensure sufficient operating space and lighting. Additionally, a set of protective equipment (safety helmet, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes, etc.) is required.
Check the new pressure screen basket to confirm its model and specifications match the old one that needs to be replaced. Ensure it is undamaged (dents, deformation, blockage in screen gaps or holes) and that all accessories are present (sealing rings, fasteners, etc.).
Clean the cavity or base where the pressure screen basket will be installed, removing any residual slurry, fibers, fragments of the old sealing ring, and other impurities. Pay special attention to cleaning the sealing surfaces, as even tiny particles can cause leakage.
Disassembly of The Old Pressure Screen Basket
Remove the bolts, glands, etc., securing the screen basket in sequence, and carefully record the disassembly order and location. The old screen basket can be removed by hoisting. Be careful when removing it to avoid bumping the cavity or damaging other parts. Thoroughly clean the exposed cavity and positioning surfaces after disassembly.

New Pressure Screen Basket Installation
Lubricate the seals. Apply grease evenly to the new sealing ring to facilitate installation, prevent twisting or cutting, and extend its service life. Place the lubricated sealing ring into the sealing groove of the cavity or screen basket, ensuring it is fully in place without twisting or folding. Then, use lifting tools or equipment to lift the new pressure screen basket and smoothly move it into the installation cavity. During this process, ensure that the positioning marks on the screen drums are aligned. If there are positioning pins or keyways, they must be precisely aligned. During placement, absolutely avoid collisions or friction between the screen drum (especially the screen slots and screen holes) and the cavity or other components. Ensure that the screen basket is completely seated and in contact with the positioning surface. Gently tap it with your hand or a rubber mallet to confirm that it is fully in place.
Installation of Pressure Screen Basket Fixing Components
Install the gland, clamps, or tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence (do not tighten a single bolt at once; the sequence is generally diagonal), tightening evenly in 2-3 stages. A torque wrench can be used during tightening. Uneven tightening can lead to screen basket deformation, seal failure, or operational imbalance. Ensure all fixing components are properly installed and under even force.
Inspection after Installation of the Pressure Screen Basket
Visually inspect whether the pressure screen basket is positioned correctly and centered within the cavity. Verify that all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque. Ensure the seals are correctly installed, without extrusion or twisting.
