What is a Multi Disc Filter Plate?

The multi disc filter plate is the core component of the multi disc filter (thickener), connected to the hollow shaft and embedded in the mounting grooves at both ends of the hollow disc. It is primarily used for the uniform thickening of pulp. The pulp undergoes solid liquid separation through the multi disc filter plate, the hollow shaft rotates to ensure even distribution of the pulp, and a pressure pump extracts air to assist in the thickening process.

The Working Process of Multi Disc Filter Plate

With the rotary of disc plate, the pulp get into nature filter area, vacuum filter area, peel area and washing area. In the filter process, fiber and other sediment on the filter mesh , forming filter layer. At the same time, the water flow into fan shape area by filter layer and filter mesh, and then it flows out from the distribution head at the end through the central axis.

The filtration efficiency of a multi disc filter/thickener is influenced by various factors, among which the key is whether an appropriate filter layer can be formed on the mesh surface. Therefore, it is necessary to add an appropriate amount of long fiber raw materials to the white water to promote the formation of the filter layer and the peeling of the pulp layer. In addition, the number of filters on the filter disc, the amount of white water passing through, the vacuum degree, the concentration of treated white water, and the rotation speed of the disc also have a significant impact on the filtration efficiency.
